Back By Popular Demand: Bath & Body Works Expands Hand Sanitizer Product Offerings

Bath & Body Works’ sanitizers don’t just keep hands clean, they elevate an everyday activity into something more luxurious through the power of fragrance.

This fan-favorite product is available in multiple forms including a convenient one ounce spray, handheld PocketBac and now, back by popular demand, customers can get their favorite hand sanitizer in a full-size gel bottle.

Bath & Body Works is a market leader in this key category and offers sanitizers in 145 high quality fragrances annually. Plus, they’re infused with ingredients like aloe, shea extract and Vitamin E to keep hands conditioned as well as clean.

All Bath & Body Works products are created in partnership with world-renowned perfumers and fragrance houses – the same that partner with many luxury brands.

“We’re always testing new fragrance combinations to build on what we know our customers love while introducing new customers to Bath & Body Works,” says Maraga Martens, vice president of merchandising. “We’re able to deliver that high quality experience at a much more accessible price point.”

The brand’s product development process begins and ends with the customer. Their insights-driven strategy tracks emerging trends while identifying white space and real-time customer feedback both in person and online.

“Requests for full size sanitizers were heard resoundingly across the board with it being one of the top requested forms in shop,” says Martens. “It’s all about building on what we know customers want season after season and meeting that demand—sometimes with a new twist.”

The brand has a track record of being a fragrance-first innovator and develops formulations that work not just as a fragrance mist or spray, but also a hand soap, body cream, candle and sanitizer. All products are brought to market with a focus on newness powered by a primarily domestic supply chain model.

This agility allows Bath & Body Works to meet the consumer where they are and respond quickly to shifting demand.

Bath & Body Works’ full size sanitizers are available in the brand’s iconic fragrances like Eucalyptus Mint and Champagne Toast. This past fall, Bath & Body Works introduced their new one-ounce spray in response to demand for more portable spray options. The brand also launched a new moisturizing formula in its PocketBacs with fragrances like Fresh Cut Lilacs, Beautiful Day and many more.

Customers have also responded positively to the fun accessories the brand offers with its sanitizer.

“We see customers being ‘purse proud’ by customizing their PocketBacs with clips to fit their personality,” says Martens. “That business continues to be highly successful especially with younger customers – we are keeping sanitizing hands fashionable.”

Bath & Body Works’ strategy is driving relevance and reaching that younger consumer. The company is the number one fragrance brand and a top beauty destination for teens according to the newest report from Piper Sandler.
