According to a “Scent & Senses” survey commissioned by Bath & Body Works, nearly 4 in 5 people say fragrance has the power to transport them to another place or time. Off The Vine, Bath & Body Works’ latest innovative and trend-forward fragrance, gives gourmand-lovers the chance to be whisked away to a sunny garden straight from their living rooms.
Off The Vine evokes the feeling of an Italian-summer with notes of heirloom tomato, garden geranium and Mediterranean moss. And while it may seem unexpected, the brand saw an opportunity to tap into the viral tomato trend seen across social media and the broader marketplace— from apparel, accessories to fragrance— and created an elevated scent that’s truly unique.
“Our inspiration stemmed from the trend-forward, chic ‘tomato girl’ aesthetic,” says Mary Testa-Gough, associate vice president of product and fragrance development at Bath & Body Works. “For the fashion-conscious consumer looking for a new fresh fragrance experience, we wanted to transport them away to summers on the Amalfi coast while capturing the Mediterranean charm of sundrenched gardens infused with lush greens and deep crimson geranium.”
This approach is nothing new for Bath & Body Works, in fact the brand’s fragrance development, design and merchandising teams travel the globe to gain inspiration and immerse themselves into new and emerging trends to create fragrances they know will truly resonate with customers. As a result, consumers have responded well to collections and gourmand-focused fragrances like Everyday Luxuries and Sweetest Song.
Bath & Body Works fragrances are created with world-renowned perfumers and fragrance houses, and Off The Vine was developed in partnership with IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances Inc), the same fragrance house that partnered with the brand on its Platinum collection, which recently won a prestigious Fragrance Foundation award.
Off The Vine is available in several forms including fine fragrance mist, eau de parfum, body cream, hand soap and three-wick candles, so it can be layered across body and home. It offers customers a modern perspective on the tomato and its decadent nuances, with an earthy, light floral experience that feels like summer.
“It’s a fruity, aromatic and approachable scent that’s complemented with delicate textured florals and Mediterranean moss. The fragrance experience is modern, happy, and elevated,” says Testa-Gough.
