For Caprina Smith, Associate Designer at Bath & Body Works, the new fall candle collection is more than just seasonal—it’s sentimental. When the Concept Team set out to create a line that felt sophisticated, feminine and timeless, Smith found inspiration close to home: her mother’s wedding dress from 1994.
“My mom’s ballerina-style wedding dress from 1994 was timeless and gorgeous. It felt like the perfect muse for the Blush Amber & Peony packaging,” Smith said.
The result is a stunning black-and-white gestural line art design that feels both modern and nostalgic. And if the packaging looks hand-painted, that’s because it is. Smith—who paints in acrylic and sculpts in her free time—brought her artistic talents directly into the design process. “Art has always been a part of my life. It’s truly special to be able to bring that into a professional setting,” she said.
The fall collection features six cozy fragrances (all packaging designed by Smith) available now until October.
Sweater Weather: Fresh sage, juniper berries, aromatic eucalyptus and fresh woods.
Cozy Cashmere: Smooth lavender, warm vanilla, pink jasmine and comforting sandalwood.
Pumpkin Apple: Red delicious apple, fall pumpkin, fresh ground cinnamon and clove buds.
Pumpkin Spice Latte: Pumpkin pie spice, freshly brewed espresso, homemade whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.
Welcome Home: Cinnamon sugar, warm apple butter, clove buds and brown sugar.
Blush Amber & Peony: Sweet peony, warm musk and golden pear.
“In a world where AI is everywhere, people are craving something more tactile and human,” said Smith’s manager, Jaimie Kasper, Senior Designer at Bath & Body Works. “Hand-drawn packaging gives our products authenticity and celebrates the artistry behind our fragrances.”
Smith is already working on a hand-painted spring collection, while Kasper is creating oil paintings for the upcoming holiday season. Once completed, the artwork is scanned and printed onto labels—bringing a handcrafted touch to every product.
At Bath & Body Works, creativity isn’t just encouraged—it’s celebrated. And thanks to associates like Smith, products continue to tell meaningful stories, one design at a time.
