It’s November 2013, and Maribel Mirabal is eager to land her first part-time job. She’s looking for roles focused on customer service but is a bit nervous she won’t find something since she’s new to the retail space. However, she finds, applies and lands a gig supporting Bath & Body Works as a temporary, seasonal associate for the holidays at the Westland Mall in Miami. Fast forward to present day – 10 years later – and Maribel is an Assistant Store Manager in the same city where she’s helping the company prepare to open a newly-remodeled Bath & Body Works location.
“When I started at Bath & Body Works, I was scared that I might say or do the wrong things – I was shy,” said Maribel. “My initial experience as a seasonal associate, back in 2013, helped me quickly realize that this is a company where you can be your 100% authentic self and really grow – the more you bring of yourself on the sales floor, the better you do.”
One of the biggest things that’s kept Maribel at Bath & Body Works over the last decade is the people. She finds the positive energy in stores motivating, and described how the enthusiasm starts at the top.
“Bath & Body Works really cares about their associates – I can proudly say that I work for a company that puts its people first and cares about associates’ well-being,” said Maribel. She continues to see a common thread of positivity and support from Home Office staff, Regional Managers and District Managers, which translates to a welcoming culture in stores that is felt by customers.
During the last decade, Maribel held many roles and positions across the Bath & Body Works field network as she rose through the ranks. From sales associate, to cashier, to supervisor, to acting as an Assistant Store Manager in high visibility stores in Florida, she’s not only seen her own career evolve, but is committed to helping others realize their full potential.
“Just recently, I saw a seasonal associate get promoted to a keyholder– the goal usually isn’t to stay in that role for too long and we’re already thinking about how to get them to supervisor,” said Maribel. “Bath & Body Works really taught me everything: confidence in myself, workforce management, payroll and selling.”
